Emily Tafoya is the widow
of famed potter Ray Tafoya who died in the fall of 1994. Emily
is of Kiowa ancestry but moved to Santa Clara Pueblo at a young
age and was raised there.
After her marriage to Ray,
she worked closely with him and fortunately learned all the processes
of pottery making. Upon Ray's death, Emily continued his unique
style and meets his high standards. Her pots are fine or finer
than when they worked together and her styles are continuously
evolving.
